Google Books Library Project – An enhanced card catalog of the world's books
This project much like the publisher endeavor but works with university libraries to place their collections online. The major benefit of this is giving wide access to many rare and out of print texts, while ensuring further damge to those texts will not be encured.
Goal:
The Library Project's aim is simple: make it easier for people to find relevant books – specifically, books they wouldn't find any other way such as those that are out of print – while carefully respecting authors' and publishers' copyrights. Our ultimate goal is to work with publishers and libraries to create a comprehensive, searchable, virtual card catalog of all books in all languages that helps users discover new books and publishers discover new readers.

I thank all the books providers (Google Partner), that help Google doing its mission : "to organize the world’s information and to make it universally accessible and useful" -Google Usage Guidelines-
What a noble mission.
Makes life easier. :)
The Google Books Library Project is a wonderful asset to all- a great resource for the public who are looking for a specific book. Once you locate the book, do you need to pay to gain access? I'll explore this further, as I often need historical research that may not be available on-line in any traditional database. Especially primary sources, such as original writings from nurse theorists which are no longer in print. What a great resource!
Okay, during my blogging, I will read many research papers on-line. Some are downloadable for everyone and some need specific permission. Some database like ERIC allows me to have access to journal articles using my SU ID. so I am really interested to know how Google library is going to do: Is it accessible to everyone? or only students from those colleges are permitted to use it? or people can pay a fee to get access to it?
I like the idea of digital library, it is convenient and easy to access. Besides, we can use various ways such as tagging, bookmarking to organize info. Last but not least, now those books will have a permanent, indestructable digital copy forever. It is another way to conserve our food for thought.
